Cotuit Library Expands Public Technology Access with New Internet-Enabled Devices
New laptops, Chromebooks, and desktop computers are now available to support learning, job access, and digital literacy
COTUIT, MA – May 2026 – The Cotuit Library is pleased to announce the arrival of new internet-enabled devices, expanding access to technology for residents across the community. These devices were provided through the Massachusetts Broadband Institute’s Connected and Online Program, a statewide initiative designed to increase digital access and opportunity. The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech), through the Connected and Online Program, is a statewide initiative aimed at expanding digital access.
Through this program, the Cotuit Library has received a range of new equipment, including laptops, Chromebooks, and desktop computers, all of which are now available to support education, workforce development, and everyday digital needs.
Chromebooks are available immediately for in-library use, offering patrons a flexible option for browsing the internet, accessing email, completing forms, or working on documents during their visit.
Laptops are also available immediately for loan, allowing patrons to take a device home and stay connected beyond the library’s walls.
In addition, new desktop computers are now available within the library:
Two desktop stations in the lobby are available for quick access to the library catalog, printing, and general use
One desktop computer on the lower level offers enhanced graphics capability, supporting more advanced computing needs
“Access to reliable technology is essential for participating in today’s world,” said Autumn Hassett, Executive Director of the Cotuit Library. “We are proud to offer these resources to our community—whether someone is applying for a job, accessing telehealth services, learning new skills, or simply staying connected.”
The addition of these devices builds on the library’s ongoing commitment to digital literacy and equitable access. The Cotuit Library continues to offer technology support, hands-on learning opportunities, and programs designed to help patrons feel confident navigating the digital world.
These resources are available free of charge to library cardholders. Patrons are encouraged to visit the library or contact staff to learn more about device availability and borrowing guidelines.
